Leicester City could have another injury concern on their hands with Wesley Fofana currently suffering from a "small problem" in his knee.

The Foxes have been riddled with injuries this term but have nonetheless enjoyed a superb start to the campaign.

Despite the likes of Ricardo Pereira, Caglar Soyuncu and Wilfred Ndidi being absent for the most part, Brendan Rodgers' side currently sit top of the Premier League table after eight games and also boast a 100% record in their Europa League group at the halfway mark.

While shrewd coaching and the impressive form of Jamie Vardy have undoubtedly been factors in their early success, a stringent backline has also been key and £31m summer signing Fofana has proved instrumental.

The 19-year-old has started Leicester's last seven games in all competitions, contests in which the Foxes have conceded four times and lost just once.

However, after shining once more in his side's 1-0 victory over Wolves on Sunday afternoon, Fofana has since emerged as an injury concern amid the second international break of the season.

The teenager was set to represent France's Under-21 side against Liechtenstein and Switzerland over the next seven days but Les Espoirs head coach Sylvain Ripoll said Fofana would be assessed before a decision is made on whether he features in the matches due to a knee issue.

“Wesley Fofana has a small problem with his knee that we are going to assess, we will make the most reasonable decision," Ripoll said at a press conference on Monday (via the Leicester Mercury).

Nevertheless, even if the 19-year-old isn't deemed fit enough to play for Les Espoirs, the injury doesn't appear to be a major problem, which is good news for Leicester.

Fofana has taken to the Premier League remarkably well considering his tender age and his excellent start to life at the King Power is said to be a distinct source of frustration for West Ham boss David Moyes.

The Hammers were in for a centre-back in the summer and Moyes, as Football Insider notes, was said to have been 'blown away' by Fofana.

West Ham pushed hard to secure a deal with St. Etienne before Leicester wrapped up the £31m switch. Moyes was instead forced to settle for the loan signing of Craig Dawson from Watford.
