Leicester City predicted lineup vs Liverpool - Carabao Cup

Leicester City travel to Anfield to face Liverpool in the final eight of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.

Brendan Rodgers' side had Premier League games against Tottenham and Everton postponed following an outbreak of COVID-19 within the camp last week. However, the Foxes have reopened their Seagrave base just in time, theoretically, to visit a ground they haven't triumphed on for 21 years.

Here's the XI Rodgers may select to break that run and make it into the semi-finals.

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Kasper Schmeichel (GK) - Leicester's number one has gone ten games without keeping a clean sheet against his upcoming cup opponents.

Timothy Castagne (RB) - So comfortable was Leicester's win over Newcastle in their last outing, Castagne could share a smile with his goalkeeper after almost scoring a comedic own goal - it's hard to imagine a repeat against Liverpool would be viewed with the same good humour.

Jonny Evans (CB) - The club captain lasted just six minutes against Newcastle but, due to consecutive cancellations, may have been afforded enough downtime to return without missing a match.

Caglar Soyuncu (CB) - With a raft of injuries (and illnesses) cruelly concentrated on Leicester's rearguard, Soyuncu may also make a rapid recovery from a hamstring concern in Leicester's most recent match.

Luke Thomas (LB) - The 20-year-old full back wasn't born the last time Leicester earned a victory at Anfield.

2. Midfielders

Wilfred Ndidi (CM) - No club has ever forced Leicester's defensive midfield screen into more yellow cards than Jurgen Klopp's Reds (four).

Youri Tielemans (CM) - In the best scoring form of his career to date (averaging a goal every 213 Premier League minutes), the epicentre of Leicester's midfield is also integral to their defensive resolve given the inflated tally of 12 goals conceded in the six games he's missed this term.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (AM) - He may sound like the venue of a second-tier Royal wedding, but Leicester's academy product has gradually wormed his way into the first team, starting the last three matches.

3. Forwards

James Maddison (RW) - With eight direct goal contributions (four goals, four assists) in his last six matches, Leicester's punctuated fixture list came at just the wrong time for the club's in-form forward.

Jamie Vardy (ST) - After a run of seven goals in his first eight games against Liverpool, Vardy's only strike in the subsequent five meetings came in his last match against the Merseyside club.

Harvey Barnes (LW) - No Leicester player has had more shots on target than the trigger-happy winger across all competitions this season, but four teammates - including a pair of midfielders - have scored more goals than the less fortunate Barnes.
