Leeds United are considering a move for Stuttgart striker Nicolás González, as they continue planning for their first Premier League campaign in 16 years.

The Argentinian played an instrumental role in Die Schwaben's impressive 2019/20 season, scoring 14 goals and assisting another three as the club achieved promotion to the Bundesliga.

While he's contracted for another three years, the German side appear resigned to losing his services, given the increased interest in him from across the continent.

According to the Mirror, Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa is a huge admirer of the forward, who is valued at around £20m.

Having tracked him throughout the second-half of the recent 2.Bundesliga campaign, the 65-year-old is of the belief that his countryman could be a future star in the English top-flight, and has all of the necessary attributes to succeed at the highest level.

The experienced boss is said to be confident about his team's chances of landing his signature, given their Premier League status and his reputation among players as a world-class manager. Leeds are believed to be the favourites to sign him, despite there being rival interest from Bundesliga giant Borussia Dortmund and a host of clubs in Serie A - including Inter, Lazio, Roma and Milan.

Starting off his career with Argentinos Juniors, González scored 11 goals in 44 games before earning a move to Stuttgart in 2018. He's since starred for the German side, also making his international debut for La Albiceleste in October.

Securing a new striker is a priority for Leeds ahead of next season. With Jonathan David on the verge of joining Lille OSC, it's understood that they have turned their attention towards Brentford star Saïd Benrahma, with the same outlet reporting their interest in the £25m-valued Algerian.
