Leah Williamson hopes that Arsenal’s Continental League Cup win will inspire the team to compete for more silverware.

The Gunners won the Conti Cup against Chelsea in early March, their first trophy in four years.

"Winning teams are about finding a way and getting back to their best, and in the League Cup final you saw that," said Williamson to the BBC

"Hopefully that has put us in good stead for the rest of the year."

Jonas Eidevall's team trails Chelsea, who sit at the top of the WSL table, by five points and are three points adrift of both Manchester United and Manchester City in the quest for European football next season, but have a game in hand.

"We had a bit of a rough time with injuries at the wrong time, took our foot off the gas a little bit and didn't put ourselves in a great position in the league," the Arsenal captain continued.

"It's not what we are used to and not good enough. You can't win the next trophy until you've won the first and four years is way too long, so it felt good."

Arsenal have been in fine form as of late, dismantling both Liverpool and Reading in the WSL after the Conti Cup win.

"The [League Cup final] was the catalyst," said Eidevall after the side’s 4-0 victory over Reading.

"I think it helped, it showed ourselves what we are capable of. Why not try to repeat it and even try to go a little bit higher every time we are playing?"

Up next, Arsenal will hope the good form continues as they travel to Germany to face Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final, before taking on North London rivals, Tottenham.
