Los Angeles FC have acquired Canadian men’s national team center back Doneil Henry.

He joins as a free agent, and is set to occupy an international roster slot with the Black & Gold.

Henry spent the last two years with Korean K-League team Suwon Bluewings, where he recorded three goals in 41 appearances.

“Doneil is a veteran and athletic defender who brings incredible international and MLS experience to our club,” LAFC co-president & general manager John Thorrington said in a release.

“During his time in Europe and with the Canadian national team he has shown that he will add a strong presence to our backline.”

The player previously spent time with other Major League Soccer sides, spending five years with Toronto FC before featuring for the Vancouver Whitecaps for two seasons. He recorded six goals and four assists during his previous time in the American league.

Internationally, Henry has been capped 42 times by Canada and formed part of the World Cup qualifying roster that currently leads the Concacaf table.

The center back joins LAFC’s backline, composed of Eddie Segura, Jesus David Murillo and Mamadou Fall.

This is the team’s second CanMNT addition of the offseason after signing goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau in a trade with Vancouver.
