La Liga president Javier Tebas has insisted that Lionel Messi will have to lower his salary demands in order to re-join Barcelona in the summer.

Messi's current contract at Paris Saint-Germain is due to expire in the summer and 90min understands that the legendary forward is now focused on trying to seal a move to Barça.

PSG have long-expected that Messi will leave the club, but the relationship between himself and the club frayed even further this past week when Les Parisiens were forced to suspend Messi for an unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia.

In order to make a blockbuster return to La Blaugrana, La Liga president Tebas told RMC that the forward will have to sign a contract worth much less than what he's currently being paid at PSG due to Barcelona's financial woes.

"If Barcelona sign Lionel Messi, his salary will be less than what it is at Paris Saint-Germain. His return is now conditional on selling players. I think that Barça will get a good amount from selling players this summer," Tebas commented.

Regarding the outgoings Tebas has highlighted as being crucial, 90min understands that Arsenal may be on hand to help out.

Arsenal are keen to sign a right winger during the summer transfer window and two Barcelona players are at the top of their shortlist: Ferran Torres and Raphinha.
