La Liga president Javier Tebas has insisted Real Madrid do not need to sell any players to make room for Kylian Mbappe this summer.

Reports suggest Mbappe has agreed a five-year contract with Madrid which includes a €15m annual wage and a signing bonus of €150m, and it has been claimed that the La Liga leaders may have to sell one of their top stars to fund such a move.

Tebas, however, has stressed that Madrid's finances are strong enough to complete Mbappe's proposed transfer without causing any problems.

"Knowing that he is leaving PSG, there is a 99% chance that Mbappe will sign for Real," Tebas told L'Equipe. "But I don't know if it's already signed.

"Real are a club in an optimal situation economically. The president and the general manager are very good managers, but they are very bad when they want to organise new competitions [like the Super League]!

"Economically, they are very responsive. Their financial results are currently very good and they can spend much more than they do. Real have been very prudent financially and have prepared for the signing of Mbappe.

"Their strategy is not short term. They are not obliged to sell anyone to pay Mbappe. Really, not at all."

Tebas could hardly hide his excitement towards the prospect of adding Mbappe to La Liga, where he would link up with fellow superstar Jude Bellingham.

"Of course, this is big news for Real and for Spanish football," Tebas continued. "He is one of the best players in the world. From my point of view, Bellingham, [Erling] Haaland and Mbappe are the three dominant players on the planet, and two are at Real Madrid.

"[Madrid president Florentino Perez] hasn't spoken to me for three years, but it makes me happy that they're signing Mbappe. And I am taking advantage of this interview to send him the message that I am delighted that Real are making such recruitments to have a major team.

"The signings of big players are accelerators, but they are not essential. Of course it's better to have big names. Having coaches like [Jose] Mourinho or [Pep] Guardiola is useful. But players like [Cristiano] Ronaldo, Neymar or [Lionel] Messi left and La Liga was still doing very well. Mbappe will nevertheless help us, in the coming years, to consolidate everything we have already done."
