Kylian Mbappe has denied that he will have any influence on Paris Saint-Germain's recruitment strategy over the next few years, despite reports of the contrary.

After a protracted saga it was finally confirmed that Mbappe has signed a new PSG contract, ruling out a long-expected move to Real Madrid for now.

As reported by 90min, Real had been confident of securing his signature and they have been left angry by the forward's seemingly last-minute change of heart.

Reports last week suggested that Mbappe had been tempted to stay at PSG by the promise of having a say in the club's sporting project moving forward. However, this idea was strongly denied by the France international in an interview with La Parisien.

"You have to be able to put your faith in people. It would be starting the project off on the wrong foot if the flagship player puts pressure on the director of sport. Everyone must stay in their lane. If the club recruits a new director of sport, it means that they are competent," he said.

"He’ll need to be given time before Kylian Mbappé is put in his way. But if he wants to speak, I can talk about football for hours. With you or with anyone else. But I won’t influence sales and recruitment, it’s not my job."
