Kyle Walker has admitted that Manchester City missed a big opportunity, and one they needed to take, by losing to Tottenham given Arsenal suffered defeat at the hands of Everton on Saturday.

Man City headed into the weekend on the back foot in the title fight with Arsenal, trailing Mikel Arteta's side by five points having played a game more.

They were given the chance to close the gap ahead of them though when the Gunners lost 1-0 to Everton on Saturday, but ultimately couldn't take it, losing 1-0 away to Spurs.

Speaking after the match, Walker admitted that it was a missed opportunity in the title race for his side and one they needed to take, but hasn't given up hope yet.

"Of course it is, of course it is, because they dropped points," he said. "We needed to pick up on [that] to close the gap.

"But there's still a lot of football to play, I've been here many years in the Premier League and I know the twists and turns that can happen. And I know what this team is about, I know what this team can do.

"We can go on a run between now and the end of the season and it's just about us doing that really."

While things aren't quite in Man City's hands, they can still take six points off Arsenal themselves with the two sides going up against one another twice before the end of the season.

The first of those games is on February 15 and the second takes place on April 26.
