Karren Brady named as director at West Ham Women

West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady has been named as a director of the club’s women’s team along with Tara Warren and Nicola Keye.

The move is intended to bring a new level of expertise and experience to the running of West Ham’s women’s operation, with Brady leading the initiative. She was just 23 when she became managing director at Birmingham and has been her in current role at West Ham since 2010 when long-time associates David Sullivan and the late David Gold bought the club.

The Hammers say Baroness Brady will ‘lead a new senior level of focus and support across all areas of the women’s football and commercial operation, from the first team through to the academy.’

Warren and Keye are both existing members of the West Ham board, with the former an executive director and the latter the director of ticketing. Between them the three women have a combined 60 years of experience working in professional football.

“I am delighted to be able to confirm this important and exciting new level of senior support for West Ham United Women, as we continue to enhance all areas of the football club and build upon our role as an equity leader in football,” Brady said.

“The women’s game is the fastest growing sport in the United Kingdom and at West Ham United we have made tremendous strides forward since being granted FA Women’s Super League status five years ago. Tara and Nicola have a wealth of valuable experience in football and business and together we will work tirelessly to ensure that West Ham United Women continue to go from strength to strength, on and off the field.”

Brady previously made a cameo in Squad Goals: Britain’s Youngest Football Boss, the BBC Three series following teenager Jack Sullivan in his former role as West Ham Women managing director.
