Juventus host Roma in a meeting between two of the Serie A title contenders on Saturday evening.

Aeons feel as though they have elapsed since the Bianconeri claimed their most recent Scudetto in 2020. Massimiliano Allegri's stodgy hodgepodge have avoided conceding on their way to four points from their opening two matches but have scarcely ventured towards convincing.

Jose Mourinho's Roma, boasting the former jewel in Juve's crown Paulo Dybala, have taken a league-high 47 shots en route to a pair of 1-0 victories this term.

Here's everything you need to know about a match that can't be missed.

Juventus team news

The tide of Juve's injury list may begin to subside in the coming weeks. Paul Pogba is expected to start light running imminently as he could join fellow midfielder Arthur (ankle) in a return pencilled in for early September.

Angel Di Maria is thought to be operating on a similar timescale in his recovery from a groin injury although Marley Ake (October) and Federico Chiesa (January) have some way to go.

However, Juve's first-choice goalkeeper - and former Roma custodian - Wojciech Szczesny could figure in the high-stakes affair this weekend. Club captain Leonardo Bonucci travelled with the team but didn't feature in the 0-0 draw with Sampdoria last Monday but he might make it against the Giallorossi.

Roma team news

Mourinho, in an unfamiliar unshackling of exciting attacking talent, had started all four of Tammy Abraham, Dybala, Nicolo Zaniolo and Lorenzo Pellegrini across the opening fortnight of the season. However, Zaniolo's injury misfortune struck again as the 23-year-old was forced off with a damaged shoulder against Cremonese.

In a training session the day before Roma hosted the Lombardy outfit, Georginio Wijnaldum fractured the tibia in his right leg. The academy product Ebrima Darboe is also sidelined with a knee problem.

Juventus vs Roma score prediction

The last time this iconic pairing met it produced an all-time Serie A classic to go alongside the dusty highlight reels littered with Gabriel Batistuta, Alessandro Del Piero and the rest.

If Saturday's showpiece affair is going to offer a fraction of that excitement, Roma will be the driving force. In a meeting between two teams that will surely struggle to live up to their lofty ambitions for the upcoming campaign, they may cancel each other out on Saturday night.

Prediction: Juventus 1-1 Roma
