Juventus mifielder Nicolo Fagioli is under investigation for betting on illegal platforms and is at risk of a potentially lengthy ban from football.

Fagioli has been one of the bright spots of what's been a difficult 12 months for Juventus, with the player breaking through from the youth academy to become a key player in Max Allegri's sqaud.

The 22-year-old won the Serie A Best Young Player award during the 2022/23 campaign, and has continued to perform at a high level for his boyhood club this season - making six Serie A appearances thus far.

However, Fagiolo's footballing future has now been thrown into doubt, with La Stampa reporting that he has been named in an investigation into alleged betting using illegal platforms.

The investigation is being led by the Turin Prosecutor's Office and, after Fagioli's name and profile reportedly cropped up on an illegal betting platform, investigators are trying to determine whether or not said profile was actively operated by the Juventus midfielder.

The FIGC have been aware of the situation since the end of August, with the player's lawyers informing the federation of the situation.

If found guilty, the Italy international could receive a ban from football of up to three years.

The investigation is the latest in a long line of controversies surrounding Juve. Along with Fagioli's potential ban, fellow midfielder Paul Pogba is facing a suspension from the sport due to two positive doping tests, with the tests unearthing unusually high testosterone levels in the player's blood work.

Pogba could be banned for four years for the discrepancy, and Juventus reserve the right to cancel the French star's contract, having not been privy to player's ingestion of the testosterone-increasing drugs.

Along with that, Juventus are currently facing legal action from Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Al Nassr star set to sue the club for €19.9m in unpaid wages.
