Juventus have announced that their first team has been placed into voluntary isolation, after midfielder Weston McKennie tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday afternoon.

Fears of fixtures being postponed are growing around Europe, after a number of high profile stars - including I Bianconeri's very own Cristiano Ronaldo - contracted the virus while on duty with their respective national sides.

McKennie is the latest to test positive for the coronavirus, and Juventus have confirmed that the squad have subsequently gone into voluntary isolation.

"Juventus Football Club announces that, during the checks provided by the protocol in force, the player Weston McKennie has tested positive for Covid 19," their statement began.

"In compliance with the regulations and the protocol, the team entered into fiduciary isolation this evening. This procedure will allow all players who tested negative in the checks to carry out regular training and match activities, but will not allow contact with people outside of the group.

"The club is in constant contact with the competent health authorities."

News of McKennie's positive test comes after talisman Ronaldo also contracted the virus while serving for Portugal in the UEFA Nations League; a diagnosis which is almost certain to rule him out of a number of key matches.

The positive tests puts Juventus' match with Crotone on October 17 in doubt, as the players will now serve a period in quarantine while others return from international duty. The Italian champions are already a game behind the rest of their Serie A opponents, following the controversial postponement of their highly-anticipated clash with Napoli before the break.

I Partenopei received positive test results for two of their first team stars ahead of the trip to Turin, and were advised not to leave Naples in under circumstances. This led to plenty of confusion over the outcome of the match against I Bianconeri, which is still under investigation at the time of writing.
