Jurgen Klopp unsure about severity of Diogo Jota injury
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted the club are waiting to find out the extent of Diogo Jota's latest injury.
The 25-year-old missed Tuesday's crushing 4-0 defeat to rivals Manchester United in a pre-season friendly in Bangkok, although the Reds did field an understrength starting lineup and 32 players across the space of 90 minutes.
Crystal Palace are next up for Liverpool on Friday, with the squad having travelled to Singapore, but Jota will again be absent from the game after picking up an injury in training.
Addressing the matter in a press conference, Klopp admitted that Jota's latest setback was "not cool" and revealed that the injury was in the same area as a previous hamstring complaint.
“So, Diogo is unlucky,” Klopp said. “Diogo was not involved [against Manchester United] because of an injury he got at the end of his season.
“He trained yesterday [Wednesday] fully and got injured again, so that’s really not cool but we have to wait for the results. He had further assessment this morning so we have to see.”

“We will see," Klopp added about whether Jota had re-injured his hamstring. "The same region, yes.”
In a separate interview with ESPN, Klopp also spoke about Liverpool's thrilling 2021/22 campaign, which saw them remain on course for an unprecedented quadruple right up until the final day of the Premier League season.
"I'm very positive about the season and the things we did, of course. When you are that close, it would have been nice [to win everything], but it doesn't hurt anymore," Klopp reflected.
"It hurt in the moment, that's clear, when we came a bit short in the league and lost the Champions League final, but honestly, the next day [when Liverpool had a homecoming parade] showed us everything we needed to know, the people obviously. That's what we do: we do it for the people and they obviously appreciate a lot what we did over the year.
"It was a spectacular season with an insane amount of points, an insane amount of games and all this kind of thing, so they are really very positive reflections."
