Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed he does not always see eye-to-eye with the club's owners over transfer decisions.

Fenway Sports Group (FSG) purchased the Reds back in 2010 and have overseen a period of relative success, though they have drawn criticism from some corners of the club's fanbase for a supposed lack of spending in the transfer market.

Earlier this season, FSG admitted they were open to investment opportunities, while a full sale of Liverpool has also been touted.

90min reported this week that Liverpool had pulled out of the running to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund this summer, despite long being one of the frontrunners for his signature. This news came to the dismay of Reds fans who were hopeful of landing the teenage star.

At a press conference on Friday, Klopp was repeatedly asked about the club's pursuit of Bellingham and his relationship with FSG amid accusations of frugal spending.

"It is clear other clubs can do in some situations more than us," Klopp said.

"I am the wrong person to ask about that, but that’s it. I am always here explaining it, and that is the bit that is not so cool to be honest. It is not my money we are talking about...

"You know how the process is, what you want to know is as I sit here, am I angry that we can’t do this or that? No, I am not. I don’t agree all the time with everything we do...but I am employed here. I am not here to be angry about things that will work out or not work out.

"If I am angry we don’t all of a sudden have more money or resources to do everything."

It was then put to Klopp that his illustrious managerial career could allow him to take charge of a club with more financial resources than Liverpool.

"But this is my club," he retorted. "This is my club. You want to suggest I quit here and wait for the next top job?"

Liverpool's summer transfer targets

With their pursuit of Bellingham over for now, Liverpool will pivot to other transfer targets.

Klopp revealed during this press conference that he is keeping an eye on at least '12 midfielders', with some specific names already out in the open.

90min understands that one of Liverpool's main targets is Mason Mount, though Chelsea will make a renewed attempt to tie him down to a new contract. Conor Gallagher has also been linked with a move from Stamford Bridge to Anfield.

Ryan Gravenberch, who has scarcely featured for Bayern Munich since signing from Ajax last summer, is of interest to Liverpool, while the Reds have also asked about the availability of Leicester's James Maddison.
