Jose Mourinho has been named the Premier League's Manager of the Month for November after guiding Tottenham to the top of the table.

Mourinho's Spurs have been in exceptional form, winning three of their four matches to edge in front of Liverpool and Chelsea in what promises to be an engaging title race.

Tottenham's 0-0 draw with the Blues at Stamford Bridge was the only time they dropped points in November - they had previously beaten West Brom, Brighton and Manchester City, conceding just once in the process.

There was tough competition for the award, with Frank Lampard, Manchester United's Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and West Ham's David Moyes also in the running, but Mourinho was still the clear favourite, and even let slip on Thursday - a day before the award was officially announced - that he had won it.

He was joined for promotional shots by his entire coaching staff, including popular assistant manager Joao Sacramento and club legend Ledley King.

Having won the award four times previously in his time with Chelsea and Manchester United, Mourinho joins Carlo Ancelotti, Kevin Keegan and Claudio Ranieri in having won it for the fifth time. Only ten have won it more often than that, though Mourinho has some way to go to catch Sir Alex Ferguson (27!) or David Moyes (15).

Only second-placed Liverpool and third-placed Chelsea have scored more than Spurs this season, with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min linking up to devastating effect in the final third. Characteristically of Mourinho, they have also enjoyed the best defensive record, with just nine conceded at the 11-game mark.

Spurs kicked off December with a north London derby win in front of their home fans against Arsenal, and head to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace on Sunday before a huge trip to Anfield next Wednesday.
