Tottenham have launched an internal investigation in a bid to identify which players have been leaking negative stories about Jose Mourinho's training sessions to the press.

The Portuguese tactician was forced to defend his methods following Spurs' 2-1 defeat to West Ham in February, after reports began to circulate that some of his players found the sessions 'boring and predictable'.

And the debacle is seemingly far from over, as the Daily Mail reports officials within the club are now seeking to identify which players were to blame for the leaks in a bid to prevent further stories

Mourinho's side have endured something of a turbulent season, with qualification for Europe via their league standing still far from secure.

Their last 16 Europa League exit at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb earlier this month was a particular low point in the campaign, with Mislav Orsic's hat-trick in Croatia signalling the end of Spurs' European campaign.

Having thrown away a 2-0 first-leg lead against Dinamo Zagreb, a number of revealing post-match interviews emerged, with captain Hugo Lloris in particular showing his anger at the defeat.

The embarrassing loss was made all the worse by the fact Tottenham had thrown away a 1-0 lead against Arsenal in the north London derby the weekend prior to their trip to Croatia, with some reports suggesting that Mourinho could be facing the sack.

90min exclusively revealed that Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers was the leading contender to replace Mourinho should the club decide to part ways with the former Manchester United boss, while RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann is also said to be of interest.

Since then Spurs have picked up a 2-0 win away at fellow European-spot hopefuls Aston Villa, helping to relieve the pressure on Mourinho as his side moved to within three points of Chelsea who currently occupy the fourth Champions League qualification place.
