Jonas Eidevall has praised Vivianne Miedema's performance in the number ten role during Arsenal's 4-0 victory over Reading on Wednesday evening.

The Dutch international has played much of her football in an Arsenal shirt as a central striker but has been deployed in attacking midfield from the off during the Gunners' last two WSL outings - a 0-0 draw with Chelsea and a 4-0 win over Reading.

The positional switch has paved the way for January signing Stina Blackstenius to lead the line. Both Miedema and Blackstenius were on the scoresheet during Arsenal's comfortable win over the Royals, and the pair also each had a hand in one another's goals.

"She was brilliant tonight," Eidevall said of Miedema at full time. "It helps a lot to have a player with that technique; you can smash the ball at her and she will control it, which makes it so hard to defend those spaces against her.

"Her playing a little bit deeper does not mean that she is not going to be on the end of attacks and that’s so important. It’s a starting position and that’s a position we can link up together but if you see how many times she made the final pass, or shot or second assist, she has a hand in most of our attacks today. It was very, very well done from her."

Katie McCabe and Leah Williamson were also on the scoresheet during Arsenal's win over Reading, a result that leaves the Gunners five points clear of second-place Chelsea - although the Blues do have two games in hand. However, Eidevall refused to be drawn on the WSL league standings.

"I don’t know how the table looks, it doesn’t matter," the Arsenal boss added. "I know the conditions and we are just going to do our best in every game. We need to put our focus into developing our team still, that is all I am thinking about."
