Foreest Green's Jamille Matt has been voted the PFA Vertu Motors League Two Fans' Player of the Month for September.

Table topping Forest Green enjoyed a brilliant September, going undefeated through the entire month to cement themselves as favourites for promotion to League One.

Much of their success in September was down to the form of Matt, who scored two goals and picked up an assist in four League Two appearances.

The 31-year-old's performances clearly caught the eye of spectators, too, as Matt polled 27% of the public votes, seeing off competition from the likes of Harrogate Town striker Luke Armstrong and Leyton Orient's Harry Smith.

Armstrong, who is the son of former Middlesbrough striker, Alun, had a terrific month of his own, netting three goals in five appearances as well as contributing two assists. He scooped 18% of the public vote to finish second, just ahead of Smith in third; he earned a credible 14%.

Jake Beesley, Joe Kizzi and Matt's Forest Green teammate Luke McGee were also nominated for the award, but Matt's displays - which included a commanding performance in the 4-0 win over Stevenage and the winner against Northampton Town - have seen chosen as September's best player.

In terms of the League Two table, Forest Green now sit top of the tree ahead of Harrogate by a point - the gap having narrowed after FGR were beaten 2-0 by Swindon at home while Town were busy dishing out a 6-1 thumping to Scunthorpe.
