Arsenal are open to granting defender Jakub Kiwior a loan move away, with the player keen to play more first-team football, 90min understands.

The 23-year-old joined Arsenal from Italian outfit Spezia during the 2023 January transfer window for a reported £21m fee, signing a contract which runs until 2027.

The Polish defender filled in admirably for the injured William Saliba at the tail-end of last season and was expected to have an increased role in Mikel Arteta's plans heading into the new campaign.

Speaking to Sky Sports before the start 2023/24 season, Kiwior discussed his ambitions at Arsenal, stating that he was keen to break into the starting line-up.

"We have excellent players here. The level of competition is very high. But I'm happy that I am able to compete with such good players," he reflected. "Even if I'm not selected in the starting line-up, I'm trying my best. I'm happy whenever I'm able to help the team, so I don't perceive the competition as something bad."

But Saliba's return from injury has seen Kiwior restricted to just 182 minutes of Premier League football so far this season, with Arteta favouring a partnership of the Frenchman and Gabriel.

90min understands that Arsenal are happy enough with Kiwior's progress and are in no hurry to move him on, but may consider a loan move back to Italy as he wants to be playing more regularly.

Kiwior's potential availability has alerted a number of Serie A clubs, with sources confirming that AC Milan, AS Roma and Atalanta are all open to the idea of signing the defender on a temporary basis.

With Pierre Kalulu out injured with a patellar tendon issue, Milan are in dire need of some defensive reinforcements heading into the winter window. The Rossoneri have the worst goal difference of any club in the Serie A top six due their issues at the back, and have conceded more than double the amount of goals that title rivals Juventus (seven) and Inter (six) have shipped so far.

The 23-year-old could be a shrewd addition to their defence, with Kiwior having previously enjoyed a successful spell in Italy, impressing in his 43 appearances for Spezia.
