Jaime Ordiales will no longer serve as the sporting director for Mexico men's national teams, departing the football federation through “mutual agreement” after making a “personal decision.”

"Jaime fulfilled the agreed upon transitional period with Yon de Luisa, president of the FMF, and with Rodrigo Ares de Parga, executive director of national teams, to face past commitments in the process of the election and presentation of coaching staff for the Mexican national team, the Concacaf Under-17 Championship and the qualifying matches for the [CONCACAF Nations League] Final Four, which were completed satisfactorily," announced the Mexican football federation in a statement.

Ordiales first joined the organization in July 2022, after several structural changes within the FMF. He replaced former sporting director Gerardo Torrado, who was fired after Mexico’s poor performances in several CONCACAF tournaments.

But his tenure didn’t last long. Ordiales is now the latest to depart the FMF after a disappointing showing at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where Mexico failed to advance from the group stage. President De Luisa will also leave the organization this year.

For the time being, executive director of national teams Ares De Parga will lead the organization as the election for Liga MX club owners to replace De Luisa as the outgoing FMF president happens in May.

As the organization's restructures occures, the men's senior team will compete in two CONCACAF tournaments: the Gold Cup and Nations League. After losing previous editions of the tournament, coupled with recent negative performances, the pressure is on new head coach Diego Cocca to lift both trophies.
