Jadon Sancho has confessed that Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus urged him to return to the club during the summer.

Sancho rejoined the German side on loan this summer after a public spat with United boss Erik ten Hag, in the aftermath of being dropped from the matchday squad to face Arsenal in September, saw him frozen out of the first-team setup.

A little over a month earlier, however, United faced Dortmund in a pre-season friendly in Las Vegas, and it was there that the seeds of a potential return to the club were first planted by Reus.

"There’s a video clip from Las Vegas where [Reus] told me to go back to Dortmund," Sancho told club media. "He told me: 'Whenever you’re ready, I’ll be here'. That's exactly how it was, that's insider information."

90min reported on Dortmund's interest in Sancho shortly after his clash with Ten Hag, with the German side understood to have retained their relationship with the 23-year-old following his departure in 2021.

Sancho himself has confessed that he remained in contact with Reus and fellow England national Jamie Bynoe-Gittens during his time in Manchester.

"Since I left Dortmund, I have stayed in touch with all the players and have always watched the games," he admitted. "I spoke often, especially with Marco Reus and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, because we both come from London."

Sancho will return to United in the summer as Dortmund's loan deal does not include the option for a permanent transfer, with the Red Devils hoping to see him rebuild his transfer value closer to the £73m they paid to sign him three years ago.

A reintegration at Old Trafford is not out of the question. 90min understands Sancho would be required to apologise to Ten Hag if he wants to remain at United - something he has refused to do thus far.
