Jadon Sancho has described his return to Borussia Dortmund as a "dream" as he seeks to reignite his career.

Sancho departed Manchester United on a six-month loan deal earlier this week, rejoining Dortmund in a move which does not include a purchase clause.

The winger admitted re-signing for Dortmund felt like "coming home" when the move was first announced and now Sancho has doubled down on that sentiment.

"Very good to be back," he told club media after kissing the badge. "Dortmund is home to me. Making my debut here in professional football, it's always been a dream for me, so I'm happy to be back. Can't wait to get started.

"Of course [I'm buzzing]. Can't wait to get started."

Asked why he joined Dortmund specifically, Sancho added: "I believe it's due to the fact that, connecting with the fans, conversations with Edin [Terzic], Sebastian [Kehl], [Hans-Joachim] Watzke, Marco [Reus] and a few other players...I feel like it was the right decision for me."

United resisted the chance to insert a purchase clause in Dortmund's deal for Sancho, instead hoping the winger can boost his transfer value ahead of the summer window, in which a final decision on his future will be made.

Sancho's temporary departure is part of United's prioritisation of departures in the January transfer window. The Red Devils are focused on trimming their squad and will only seek to add to Erik ten Hag's team if enough money can be freed up by outgoings.

A new forward is on the radar but is unlikely to be an expensive addition. United explored a move for Timo Werner before his loan switch to Tottenham Hotspur, while Bayern Munich's Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is on a list of targets.
