Jack Grealish Lauds Guidance of Gareth Southgate After Impressing Again in Ireland Win

Jack Grealish has credited England manager Gareth Southgate following another impressive display in England's comfortable 3-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland on Thursday night.

Grealish was excellent as part of an attacking three, running the show from the wings and providing the assist for England's second, finished off exquisitely by Jadon Sancho.

Speaking after the game, the Aston Villa attacker spoke in glowing terms about his international manager and how Southgate has dealt with him since his first call-up in October.

"I want to play as much as possible and all I've got to do is try and impress the manager as much as I can. Since I have been here he has been brilliant with me, talking to me and telling me what he wants me to do," he said, via The Mirror.

The Villa captain has had to do his fair share of waiting to finally get his opportunity on the international front, but he's looking more and more lively with each game he's involved in.

The 25-year old has made a sensational start to the Premier League campaign with four goals and five assists and he's making a name for himself in the England camp, impressing alongside the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Conor Coady who have also been recently introduced to the senior England setup.

Despite having to be patient, Grealish is pragmatic about his progress but clear he is setting targets for himself to become an England regular.

He added: "It was good to get my second start. I thought we controlled the game well and obviously it is nice to get the win.

"It is what I have been trying to do this season, trying to score more. I got the assist for Jadon and I am happy with that. I could have scored and assisted a couple more but hopefully I will save those ones."

Should Grealish keep producing such fine displays for club and country, he can certainly nail down a spot in the first team and play a major role for the Three Lions in the Euros next summer, where Southgate's side is due to take on Croatia, Czech Republic and Scotland in the group stage.
