Italy team news

Federico Chiesa and Federico Dimarco were big-name withdrawals for Italy, whose lack of striker options has already irritated manager Roberto Mancini.

Ciro Immobile or Giacomo Raspadori are both missing in attack so there could be opportunities for either Gianluca Scamacca or Mateo Retegui up top.

Potential debutants: Marco Carnesecchi, Wladimiro Falcone, Alessandro Buongiorno, Mateo Retegui

Italy predicted lineup vs England

(4-3-3): Donnarumma; Di Lorenzo, Acerbi, Bonucci, Spinazzola; Barella, Verratti, Jorginho; Berardi, Retegui, Grifo.

England team news

Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount and Nick Pope have all pulled out through injury, leaving Southgate with a handful of headaches. Jordan Henderson has been unwell but remains in camp and should be fine for this one.

The boss will have decisions to make about his long-standing favourites like centre-back Harry Maguire, who continues to struggle for game time at club level.

Potential debutants: Ivan Toney

England predicted lineup vs Italy

(3-4-3): Pickford; Walker, Stones, Maguire; James; Rice, Bellingham, Shaw; Saka, Kane, Grealish.

Italy vs England score prediction

This one may be decided by each team's respective injury problems.

Mancini was right to bemoan the lack of attacking depth available to him, with Italy undeniably coming into this one well below full strength, and that might make all the difference against an England side who, even without Rashford, has plenty of forwards in excellent form.

Italy are tough in defence and will win the midfield battlle, but their struggles in the final third might open the door for England to snatch a victory.

Prediction: Italy 0-1 England
