Indian Super League (ISL) side, FC Goa on Wednesday confirmed that six first-team players were released from the squad after their contracts ended on May 31, 2022.
Ivan Gonzalez, Alberto Noguera, Alexander Romario Jesuraj, Dylan Fox, Airam Cabrera and Christy Davis were among the players who were released by the Gaurs, who have chosen not to extend the deals of the players.
"The Club would like to thank each of them for their contributions, love and support throughout their tenure. FC Goa wishes each of them good luck in their future endeavours," FC Goa said in a statement.
Ivan Gonzalez and Alberto Noguera joined FC Goa in 2020 and represented the club in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons of the Hero ISL, along with Romario who signed a year earlier. Fox and Cabrera joined in 2021 and were a part of the first-team squad for Hero ISL 2021-22. Davis signed with the Dev Team in 2019 and was promoted to the first team in 2021.
The Gaurs endured a disappointing 2021/22 ISL season where they only managed to finish in ninth place with 19 points from 20 games, with the club management appointing former star, Carlos Pena as the head coach in order to change their fortunes.
The Spaniard who replaced Derrick Periera will be hoping that he can improve the fortunes of the club as they prepare for the upcoming ISL season.
