Indian Super League (ISL) side, Chennaiyin FC have signed winger, Alexander Romario Jesuraj from FC Goa on a multi-year deal in a bid to improve their squad and challenge for honours in the upcoming ISL season.

Jesuraj who hails from from Dindagul - a district located 420 kms southwest from Chennai, has won two I-League titles so far during his career during his time with Chennai City and Mohun Bagan. He now returns back to his home club, in what is surely going to be exciting news for Chennaiyin fans.

“Romario brings versatility and experience to our ranks. He played a pivotal role in Chennai City and Mohun Bagan’s title winning run in the I-League. And being a Tamil Nadu player himself, he will be well aware of the responsibilities that come with representing a team from the state. We’re truly delighted to have him in the Chennaiyin family," Vita Dani, Chennaiyin FC co-owner stated.

The 25-year-old came into the limelight in the 2018/19 season as he helped them win the I-League, netting twice and providing as many assists in 19 matches.

The player for his part revealed that he is delighted with the move and that it will be very special for him to play in front of his home crowd.

"I feel very happy and delighted to sign for Chennaiyin FC. It is very special for me as this is my home team. It will also be special for me to play in front of Tamil Nadu fans. I will do everything I can on the pitch to support the team," he said on his transfer.

Jesuraj has experience of playing the ISL, making 30 appearances for FC Goa in the league, scoring three goals and registering four assists, while winning the 2021 Durand Cup with the Gaurs.
