The 2021/22 Indian Super League (ISL) season ended last month with Hyderabad FC beating Kerala Blasters FC in the final to win their maiden title. The 2021/22 season was one of the most exciting ones in recent times, with the league giving us some brilliant performances on the pitch.
Here, we take a look at some interesting numbers from the just concluded ISL season.
1. Goals scored - 354
354 goals were scored in total in 115 matches in the 2021/22 season, with Nigerian striker, Bartholomew Ogbeche topping the goalscoring charts with 18 goals to his name.
2. Clean Sheets - 47
There were some brilliant performances by goalkeepers during the competition, with all of them registering a combined 47 clean sheets. Kerala Blasters FC's shot stopper, Prabhsukhan Singh Gill registered the most individual clean sheets with seven.
3. Average goals-per-game - 3.08
354 goals were scored in 115 games, with the average-goal-per game ratio coming to 3.08, which goes to show just how exciting the ISL was last season.
It will be interesting to see whether the average number remains the same next season.
4. Hat-tricks scored - 6
Only six players managed to score hat-tricks in the competition this season, with the players being Greg Stewart, Deshorn Brown, Bartholomew Ogbeche, Kiyan Nassiri, Jorge Ortiz, Airam Cabrera.
Of the six, only one Indian player managed to score a hat-trick, with the player being Kiyan Nassiri.
5. Yellow cards - 395
395 yellow cards were issued out by referees during the competition, with Kerala Blasters FC being the club which received the most warnings on the pitch.
The runners-up of the 2021/22 season received a total of 50 yellow cards last season.
