Signing Wout Weghorst on loan for the rest of the 2022/23 from Burnley made one thing clear for Manchester United fans: Erik ten Hag wants an outright number nine soon.

And he has a few different options to choose from.

Harry Kane has been linked, as has Victor Osimhen, but the recent links (which were reported by 90min) to Juventus' Dusan Vlahovic have been the ones that have perhaps stirred the most excitement in United fans.

Scott Saunders and Rob Blanchette discussed all of this on the most recent episode of 90min's 'The Promised Land' podcast.

Dusan Vlahovic to Man Utd transfer latest

On this edition of Talking Transfers, Scott Saunders hosts Toby Cudworth & Graeme Bailey to discuss some of the latest transfer news. On today's agenda: Dusan Vlahovic, Anthony Gordon, Enzo Fernandes, Amadou Onana, Malo Gusto, Nicolo Zaniolo, Pedro Porro, Weston McKennie, Milan Skriniar, Maiximo Perrone & more! Graeme Bailey: He's been offered around by intermediaries, letting other teams know that he's likely available.

There's a real chance he does go. He's one of those world class number nines and there's only so many times who can sign them.

If United do finish top four then it will open up a lot opportunities and Vlahovic is one of those. This summer is going to see a lot of number nines move, maybe Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, Benjamin Sesko.

Vlahovic is open to the move.

Scott Saunders: If a club is willing to put up what Juventus paid for him, which was £70m + £10m last year, then they'd consider selling.

Analysis

On this edition of The Promised Land, part of the 90min podcast network, Scott Saunders & Rob Blanchette discuss Man Utd's interest in Dusan Vlahovic, the goalkeeping situation involving David de Gea and David Raya & more! If you can’t see this embed, click here to listen to the podcast!

Rob Blanchette: I think he's a valid candidate for the job. I think with Vlahovic, when you look at his fit and his profile, he is definitely your happy medium between Kane and Osimhen and less of a risk with much more upside.

Vlahovic really does suit long term player that you can actually build around. I think he suits the Premier League really well and I think he would suit, in rotation, the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

He fits Ten Hag's system better than Osimhen. Definitely.
