The two most potent attacks in Serie A face off at San Siro on Monday evening as Inter look to take another step towards the Scudetto when Atalanta come to town.

Inter have scored an impressive 62 goals in their 25 league matches so far this season, and Gian Piero Gasperini's side are not far behind in that department having managed 60 themselves. On paper, this has all the makings of a high-scoring thriller and a win here for Antonio Conte's side would see them restore their six-point lead over rivals Milan.

The close proximity between the cities of Milan and Bergamo adds an extra bit of spice to this fixture, and although over the years these two sides have rarely been in direct competition for major honours, it's a game that means the world to both sets of supporters right now.

As cliche as it sounds, the team that takes their chances will be the victors at the Giuseppe Meazza because one thing is for certain - both sides will create plenty of chances.

One of the big decisions Conte is faced with in the lead up to the fixture is around who should partner the talismanic Romelu Lukaku up top. Lautaro Martinez has managed an impressive 13 league goals in 25 appearances and has also chipped in with his fair share of assists (seven).

However, during Inter's last Serie A fixture - a 2-1 win at Parma - it was Alexis Sanchez who partnered Lukaku.

The former Arsenal and Manchester United forward scored a match-winning brace at the Ennio Tardini, giving Conte something to think about ahead of the visit of Atalanta.

Atalant,a who currently sit fifth in the table, travelled to San Siro back in January to face the league leaders at the time, Milan, and ran out 3-0 winners - highlighting they are more than capable of causing an upset on their day.

While Inter are the favourites to secure their first Scudetto since the 2009/10 season, their lead is by no means substantial enough to completely rule out the chasing pack. Every game is of huge significance for Conte's men and given the threat Gasperini's side pose, the Nerazzurri will need to be ruthless in front of goal tonight more than ever.

When it comes to recent results, the Serie A form guide reads not too dissimilarly for the two clubs. Inter have won five of their last five, whereas Atalanta have won four and drawn one.

This has all the makings of a gun-slinging contest and one that could have major implications on where the title ends up. Contrary to the reports from sections of the Italian media claiming Sanchez will be the man to partner Lukaku this evening, it's difficult to overlook the dynamic Martinez and his goal record thus far - Conte has a big call on his hands.
