Brescia talent and Italy international Sandro Tonali appears close to joining Inter ahead of reigning Serie A champions Juventus and Ligue 1 winners Paris Saint-Germain.

The 20-year-old, who has been linked with Liverpool in the past, has firmly established himself as one of the top emerging talents in Europe, with this season his first as a top flight player after helping Brescia to promotion from Serie B in 2019.

French outlet Le 10 Sport claims that PSG have lost out to Inter, as have Juventus, despite the Turin club seeming to be leading the pursuit at one stage. That advantage for Juve, they say, is ‘ancient history’ after the player’s camp failed to reach an agreement with the club.

Instead, Inter are presented as the most likely club to land Tonali. Le 10 Sport alleges that ‘everything is almost complete’ between the concerned parties.

Tonali, who only turned 20 this month, has started 23 of Brescia’s 26 league games this season. He made his senior international debut for Italy in October and has played three times for the Azzurri.

The player has previously been likened to Andrea Pirlo, who played 40 games for Inter early in his career, prior to making his name at AC Milan and later also starring for Juventus.

Inter have invested heavily since the end of last season to try to equip coach Antonio Conte with the tools he needs to break Juve’s domestic dominance, a run he himself started in 2011/12.

Inter were nine points off the pace set by Juve in the Serie A table when Italian football was halted in March as a result of the coronavirus crisis. Lazio had emerged as the closest challengers since the turn of the calendar year and are trailing the champions by just a single point.
