Inter forward Joaquin Correa has been ruled out of the club’s Serie A game against Fiorentina on Tuesday night, due to a knock suffered at the weekend.

Correa, who arrived from Lazio last month, has not been named in the 23-player squad selected for the match in Florence by coach Simone Inzaghi because of the problem.

The 27-year-old forward was forced off just 29 minutes into his full Inter debut at the weekend against Bologna. The Nerazzurri ran out comfortable 6-1 winners in the end but the loss of Correa has come as a blow.

Having effectively arrived as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, Correa scored twice in just 16 minutes after coming off the bench to make his debut against Hellas Verona. He was given more minutes in the next match against Sampdoria, before starting against Bologna. Inter fans will hope that Correa is in time to face Atalanta next weekend.

Arturo Vidal, who missed the Bologna game with a thigh injury, is also ruled out of facing Fiorentina, as is Stefano Sensi. The latter could yet be absent for several more weeks.

To provide extra cover in midfield in light of Vidal and Sensi being out, 19-year-old talent Mattia Sangalli has been called into the first-team squad. He is yet to make a senior appearance.
