Inter make the theoretical journey to Milan for the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.

The Nerazzurri will have to eliminate their city rivals if they are to reach a first final since 2010, when they completed the treble under the stewardship of Jose Mourinho.

Simone Inzaghi is now the man tasked with taking Inter to the promised land and he has a few key decisions to make ahead of the first leg.

Here's how Inter could line up.

GK: Andre Onana - Tasted last-gasp heartbreak at this stage of the Champions League four years ago as part of the Ajax team who were denied a place in the final by Tottenham. Ironically, Spurs are now interested in his services.

CB: Matteo Darmian - Why is Manchester United flop Darmian on the cusp of reaching a Champions League final? Because football is funny, that's why.

CB: Francesco Acerbi - The decision to bring the veteran defender in from Lazio on loan looks like a masterstroke on Inter's part, playing a bigger role as the season has progressed.

CB: Alessandro Bastoni - Must be thanking his lucky stars that he decided to stay at Inter amid strong interest from Tottenham last summer. That's two more mentions than Spurs deserve in this piece about a competent football team.

RM: Denzel Dumfries - Perennially linked with the Inter exit door seemingly every week since arriving from PSV two years ago, but the Dutchman has cemented his place as a key member of Inzaghi's side.

CM: Nicolo Barella - Stole the show in both legs of Inter's quarter-final triumph against Benfica. Another huge display could put him on the map for the best midfielders in the world.

CM: Hakan Calhanoglu - This tie serves as a shot of redemption for Calhanoglu, who joined Inter after they won the Scudetto and left Milan in the process shortly before they themselves were crowned champions of Italy.

CM: Henrikh Mkhitaryan - Now 34 years of age, the Armenian midfielder has prolonged his career since leaving England for Italy.

LM: Federico Dimarco - On his day one of the best attacking wing-backs anywhere. Whatever you do, don't look up his defensive numbers. Don't do it. Don't.

CF: Lautaro Martinez - Since his comical performances which somehow won him a World Cup gold medal with Argentina, El Toro has rediscovered his scoring touch, grabbing five goals and two assists in his last three Serie A games.

CF: Romelu Lukaku - Similarly, Lukaku has put a horrendous World Cup campaign behind him, returning to fitness and has looked sharp in recent weeks.
