Just two days after a comeback draw in the Champions Cup, Inter Miami return to action take on CF Montreal in MLS action at Chase Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi were on point last time out for Miami, both bagging a goal in the Herons' 2-2 draw with Nashville SC in the first leg of their Round of 16 clash. In league play, Miami have picked up two wins and a draw to start their MLS campaign that includes a 5-0 thrashing of in-state rivals Orlando City last weekend in front of their supporters.

On the other side of the matchup, the Canadian outfit Montreal are also unbeaten like Miami through their first two games played. Laurent Courtois, who's in his first season as Montreal boss, guided his side to an opening day draw at Orlando City before picking up his first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over FC Dallas last Saturday.

Here's 90min's preview of the clash between the Eastern Conference clubs.

Striker Leo Campana, who's playing second fiddle to Suarez, missed the Herons' Champions Cup first-leg clash with a knock, according to Miami boss Gerardo 'Tata' Martino. Don't be surprised to see him back in the squad this Saturday, though, and maybe even starting given the short turnaround between games for Miami.

Jordi Alba was also absent from the primetime contest as he was dealing with an illness. He should be good to go for this weekend, but if he doesn't recover, Noah Allen is more than capable of stepping in for a second straight game.

Nashville's Lukas MacNaughton appeared to catch Messi in the calf/ankle area with his studs late in the second half following a clearance, but Martino confirmed that the 36-year-old Argentine wasn't affected by the challenge.

Josef Martinez is off the mark for Montreal

Former Atlanta United and Inter Miami striker Josef Martinez opened his Montreal account and scored the winning goal after coming on at the start of the second half for new signing Matias Coccaro. It was revealed that Coccaro is dealing with a hip problem and should be back near the end of the month, meaning Martinez has a chance to prove himself with several starts coming his way.

Kwado Opoku was another Montreal forward that suffered a setback, as he's set to miss the next 8-10 weeks with a torn ligament in his ankle.

Joaquin Sosa and Dominik Yankov are both dealing with their respective thigh injuries and are on track to return near the end of March.

Inter Miami vs CF Montreal score prediction

The Herons have won both of their home games thus far over Salt Lake and Orlando, and you can expect that theme to continue against their Canadian counterparts. Montreal have looked a better side in just a couple of games under Courtois, but it won't be enough to steal a draw in south Florida this weekend.

Messi, Suarez and Robert Taylor will all be on point to propel the hosts to a comfortable victory to keep them atop the Supporters' Shield standings in the new 2024 MLS season.

Prediction: Inter Miami 3-1 CF Montreal
