Inter Miami FC acquired midfielder Bryce Duke from Los Angeles FC in exchange for $100,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) in 2022, the clubs announced Tuesday. Duke will occupy a Homegrown Player slot on the Eastern Conference team’s roster.

LAFC could receive an additional $75,000 in GAM if certain performance metrics are met.

“Bryce is a young, promising talent we’re happy to acquire to continue developing on and off the pitch. We look forward to seeing him contribute and grow with Inter Miami,” chief soccer officer and sporting director Chris Henderson said in a release.

The 20-year old first joined LAFC in January 2020 from the Barca Residency Academy in Arizona. With the team, he recorded three assists across 26 MLS regular-season games and logged under 700 minutes of action.

“We want to thank Bryce for his professionalism on and off the field while he was in Los Angeles. We wish him the best of luck in the next phase of his career,” LAFC co-president and general manager John Thorrington said in a release.

In 2021, Duke also played for  USL Championship side Las Vegas Lights on loan, logging 12 appearances, all of them starts, one goal and three assists.

Duke is an original product of the Real Salt Lake Academy, where he first joined in 2016 and recorded 16 goals in 59 appearances. The midfielder then spent the 2019 campaign with the Barça Residency Academy U-18/19 in Arizona, managing five goals in 13 appearances.

Internationally, Duke has earned call ups for the U.S. Youth National Team, participating in the U.S. U-18 training camp in January 2019.

Clubs return to action on February 26 as the 2022 Major League Soccer season kicks off.
