Inter have launched their new 2020/21 home kit in a bold break from tradition, with black and blue waves design replacing the club’s traditional stripes.

The shirt is, as always, made by Nike and features Pirelli as the front sponsor but the overall look is fresh and exciting and is said to take inspiration from the city of Milan.

The waves are influenced by the design and artistic movements that grew in Milan during the 1980s and the new strip comes with the tagline, ‘Made of Inter’.

The club describes the design as taking “…the bold colours and shapes of post-modernism and uses them to reimagine the famous Nerazzurri stripes in a tribal pop style, featuring waves and zig-zags.

“The thick black and blue stripes snake down the front of the jersey in a manner which also references the Biscione, a powerful club symbol.”

The shirt is matched with black short and black socks.

“We continue our pursuit of challenging the club’s traditional striped identity, this time drawing inspiration from one of Milan’s most important design movements,” Scott Munson, VP of Nike Football Apparel, told Inter.it.

The likes of Romelu Lukaku, Christian Eriksen and, Inter hope, Lautaro Martinez will be wearing the kit next season as the club look to go again in the Serie A title race.

Despite a strong start to the current campaign, Antonio Conte’s team look as though they will fall short of breaking Juventus’ lengthy Italian dominance. The season will, however, mark qualification for the Champions League for the third successive time.
