The identity of a Roma player Jose Mourinho accused of having a poor attitude and will leave the club in January has been revealed.

After his side dropped points on Wednesday in a 1-1 draw with Sassuolo, Mourinho brought out some of his trademark mind games and left the blame at the door of one player who he declined to name.

"It was a team that wanted to win against a tough opponent, I am sorry that the efforts of the team were betrayed by the attitude of one unprofessional player," he told DAZN.

"An unprofessional attitude that is not fair to his teammates, that is what disappoints me. A point away from home is still not a negative result and I am happy with the general attitude of my squad."

Roma were in action again on Sunday, drawing 1-1 with Torino, and Mourinho's squad selection essentially confirmed that the identity of the player in question is defender Rick Karsdorp.

It's now been widely reported that the Netherlands international has left the city of Rome and is on the hunt for a new club.

His agent, Johan Henkes, had previously revealed his anger at Mourinho's comments and wanted an explanation from Roma.

"We are surprised at Mourinho's statements, which point to Rick, without Mourinho or AS Roma mentioning Rick's name. We want an explanation from the club about the trainer's words and how he did it," Henkes told Dutch public broadcaster NOS.

"That's not how you treat a player who has been playing for AS Roma for five years."

Karsdorp also reportedly had to deal with Roma fans who waited outside his house one night to confront him. The former Feyenoord defender will almost certainly leave in January and Juventus have been linked with a move.
