Goals from Attila Fiola and Antoine Griezmann saw the spoils shared between Hungary on France on Saturday afternoon, on matchday two of Group F.

Les Bleus saw the better of the chances in the first half, with Antoine Griezmann and Karim Benzema both missing gilt-edged opportunities. Instead, it was Hungary who notched the opener in the second minute of first half stoppage time. Attila Fiola latched onto header and burst into the penalty area before stabbing the ball past Hugo Lloris at the near post, putting his side 1-0 up at the break.

Despite a very underwhelming restart, Les Bleus found an equaliser on 66 minutes. Kylian Mbappe's cut back ricocheted in the box, only for Griezmann to latch onto the free ball and thrash into the top corner.

France pressed for a second but were denied by resolute defending and solid goalkeeping, eventually settling for a 1-1 draw. The point puts France on four heading into matchday three, while Hungary pick up their first, keeping slim hopes of knockout football alive.

Now, let's get to the player ratings...

HUNGARY PLAYER RATINGS

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Peter Gulacsi (GK) - 7/10 - Made a very good double save in the first half and crucially stopped Mbappe in the second. Unlucky to concede to Griezmann.

Endre Botka (CB) - 7/10 - Stood very firm to his opposition for the most part, remaining strong against forward runners and crosses into the area, making seven interventions.

Willi Orban (CB) - 6/10 - Found it tough to track the fluidity of France's three, often leaving space in and around the area in the first half. Was commanding in the second half though, and unlucky to see his deflection fall to Griezmann for France's goal.

Attila Szalai (CB) - 6/10 - Showed great strength to break attacking moves down as they got to their final stages, but often left wanting when marking runners down the channel.

2. Wing-backs & Midfielders

Loic Nego (RWB) - 6/10 - Always quick to press his opposition and frustrated Lucas Digne quite a bit, although should have done better with Loris' long ball in the build up to the equaliser.

Laszlo Kleinheisler (CM) - 7/10 - Covered a lot of ground in midfield and was quick to break up play and recycle possession, spurring his team on throughout.

Adam Nagy (CM) - 8/10 - Positioned himself well as the anchor and managed to pick off a few France attacks, frustrating his opposite numbers. Also looked very composed when releasing the ball, finding progressive passes.

Andras Schafer (CM) - 6/10 - Constantly got his head up and looked to make something happen by surging through France's midfield but seemed overwhelmed at times, not controlling his challenges.

Attila Fiola (LWB) - 9/10 - A clear threat with his forward runs from minute one and eventually made it count with a special goal. Physical, passionate, and a national hero after today - well played.

3. Forwards

Adam Szalai (ST) - 6/10 - Provided an aerial presence for his short stint on the field but was forced off on 26 minutes through a head injury.

Roland Sallai (ST) - 8/10 - A brilliant out ball and menace throughout, giving Raphael Varane problems with his physicality and pace. Did brilliantly to win the header against the Real Madrid defender and set Fiola away for the goal.

4. Substitutes

Nemanja Nikolic (ST) - 6/10 - Didn't see much of the ball but unleashed a couple of efforts that stung the thighs of French defenders.

Tamas Cseri (CM) - 6/10

Gergo Lovrencsics (RWB) - 6/10

5. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Hugo Lloris (GK) - 7/10 - Was rarely called upon and looked safe enough when he was. Really couldn't do much about the opening goal. He deserves credit for the equaliser, spotting an opportunity up top and releasing a quick long ball.

Benjamin Pavard (RB) - 4/10 - Struggled to contain the likes of Fiola at the back and was incredibly disappointing with his delivery in the final third.

Raphael Varane (CB) - 4/10 - Looked sluggish from the outset and didn't seem ready for the occasion. Was criminally weak in the build up to the opening goal.

Presnel Kimbembe (CB) - 7/10 - Really becoming a very impressive centre back. Wasn't faced with too much danger but undertook his duties to perfection, looking strong, composed and intelligent in tight and pressurised situations.

Lucas Digne (LB) - 6/10 - Nego did well to stifle his impact but he was able to venture forward and looked dangerous at times. Just never managed to deliver the killer ball he's capable of.

6. Midfielders

Laszlo Kleinheisler, N'Golo Kante

N'Golo Kante (DM) - 8/10 - Broke up play in the centre beautifully, reading the game fantastically to overturn the ball throughout, making eight ball recoveries and recycling the ball well.

Paul Pogba (CM) - 7/10 - Showed great vision and technique at times, finding forward colleagues from many angles. Combative, with four tackles, as well as creative.

Adrien Rabiot (CM) - 6/10 - A decent performance, helping the side keep balance and tick along but never really made an impact and looked far too much like a passenger for the most part.

7. Forwards

Antoine Griezmann (RW) - 8/10 - Once again worked his socks off defensively and floated around aiming to create openings on the ball. Had a brilliant chance to score in the first half, practically missing an open goal - but made no mistake to grab the equaliser.

Karim Benzema (ST) - 6/10 - His movement was fantastic, stretching Hungary and helping the side unlock a rigid defence. Uncharacteristically, however, he just failed to take his opportunities and squandered gilt-edged chances.

Kylian Mbappe (LW) - 8/10 - Electric. Astounding pace, skill and even vision on a couple of occasions. Constantly found space in and around the area and gave the Hungary back line a torrid time - forcing the chance for France's equaliser.

8. Substitutes

Ousmane Dembele (RW) - 5/10 - Made an instant impact, hitting the post with a stunning strike but was wasteful after that - had to come off with injury with five minutes to go.

Corentin Tolisso (CM) - 6/10

Olivier Giroud (ST) - 5/10

Thomas Leamr (RW) - N/A
