Breathe it in...England are European champions after winning Euro 2022. The first time England have won a major senior international final since 1966.

Ella Toone put England ahead with a stunning strike in the second half. But Lina Magull cancelled it out for Germany and send the game to extra-time. But then Chloe Kelly popped up in dramatic fashion to write her name into football history.

Here's how Twitter reacted to a momentous couple of hours.

First things first...there were so many people making their way to the game that Wembley Way was so busy and full of pre-match buzz and atmosphere.

The gamed kicked off to an incredible sound...

The first half was a little cagey and was at times quite scrappy. The referee needed to try and put a lid on it...yellow cards everywhere.

England had a first half scare but Mary Earps prevailed in a goalmouth scramble.

The game wasn't free of a few tasty challenges. Neither set of players held back.

England took the lead in stunning fashion when Toone's lob found the back of the net!

Beth Mead wasn't even on the pitch but loved it!

England players have had support from their male counterparts all month, but particularly now.

In amongst the late drama, a record attendance for a European Championship final - men's or women's - was confirmed at Wembley. Incredible stuff!

A huge new Women's Euro record for overall match attendance.

But rather than let England cruise to a victory parade, Germany soon equalised.

Extra-time followed and fingernails everywhere were getting shorter and shorter.

CHLOE KELLY'S FIRST INTERNATIONAL GOAL...what a time to get it!

Fans around the country went WILD!

Call this one 'The Hesitant Brandi Chastain'...if you know, you know...

Injury would have ruled Kelly out of the Euros last summer had it gone ahead as planned. It's an amazing narrative and shows just how much the squad as a whole has contributed.

CHAMPIONS!

Mind blowing Sarina Wiegman has won back-to-back Euros with two different teams.

And Keira Walsh was player of the match in the final.

It is home and that is all that matters...
