Manchester City will get their pre-season campaign underway against Mexican side Club America on Thursday.

The reigning Premier League champions look a little different heading into this new season, with a few big signings filling the voids left behind by a number of high-profile departures, so Pep Guardiola will be keen to use this pre-season to get his squad gelling again.

They begin with a meeting with a Club America side who fell 2-1 to a strong Chelsea side last week and who are fitting in these friendlies around their league campaign.

Here's all you need to know about this one.

Phil Foden, John Stones and Ilkay Gundogan haven't travelled with the squad because of entry requirement issues, while Aymeric Laporte stayed at home through injury.

Eyes will also be on Oleksandr Zinchenko, who is part of the squad but is inching ever closer to a move to Arsenal, so his involvement in this game remains to be seen.

Elsewhere, Guardiola will be keen to give debuts to Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips and Julian Alvarez, all of whom can expect significant minutes.

Club America team news vs Man City

There are plenty of recognisable faces in the Club America squad.

Goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa captains the side but left the Chelsea friendly after half an hour, so whether he'll feature is unclear. Ahead of him, Miguel Layun and Jorge Mere are part of the defence, with Jonathan dos Santos in midfield and the speedy Jurgen Damm out wide.

Man City vs Club America pre-season prediction

As the old saying goes, the scoreline means nothing in pre-season, but City fans will still demand an emphatic attacking display from their new-look forward line.

Haaland's every move will be analysed and scrutinised, but he's used to that by now. He's been scoring goals at a ludicrous rate recently and it'll be a massive surprise if he doesn't unofficially open his City account in this one.

Prediction: Man City 4-0 Club America
