Hibernian team news

Hibernian's poor form this calendar year has coincided with the absence of their experienced centre-back Paul Hanlon. The 32-year-old has been nursing a heel injury since the club's last meeting with Celtic in January.

Fellow defender Paul McGinn - brother of Aston Villa's John - was forced off after 11 minutes against Rangers with a knock at the start of February. Joe Newell also missed the club's only win of 2022 last weekend.

Harry Clark (hamstring), Kyle Magennis (groin) and Demetri Mitchell (ankle) are all doubtful for Celtic's visit as the trio aren't expected to recover from their various ailments until early March.

Celtic team news

Neither Kyogo Furuhashi nor David Turnbull, two of Celtic's four most prolific scorers this season, have featured since the turn of the year. However, the pair are edging nearer a return.

Albian Ajeti completes the trio of hamstring injuries on the road to recovery. However, regular substitute Michael Johnston isn't expected to return as swiftly from an ankle issue.

Hibernian vs Celtic score prediction

A 5-1 aggregate defeat to Norway's Bodo/Glimt may have exposed some of Celtic's European shortcomings. However, Ange Postecoglou's side have hit their stride on Scottish soil.

Celtic haven't recorded anything other than a Premiership victory in Parkhead since Livingston managed to frustrate them into a 0-0 draw with 15% possession on the other side of Halloween.

It would be thoroughly surprising if Hibs become the first Scottish side to earn a win at Celtic Park since January 2021 this weekend.

Prediction: Hibernian 0-2 Celtic
