Agent Jorge Mendes is scouting around Europe to try and find a striker willing to move to Tottenham to replace Harry Kane, who is wanted by Manchester United this summer.

Cross-town rivals Manchester City, who tried and failed to sign Kane last summer, remain interested in the Englishman, but their desire to sign Erling Haaland from Barcelona has seen United grow in confidence that they could be the ones to land Kane.

90min revealed earlier this month that Kane is on United's summer shortlist as the Red Devils search for a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani, with Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski also being monitored.

Kane is understood to be enjoying working under Antonio Conte, although the striker has concerns over Spurs' willingness to match his ambition. They sit 19 points behind Premier League leaders City and the 28-year-old fears time is running out for him to close that gap.

With Kane in high demand again this year, The Athletic state that Mendes - the representative of Ronaldo, among others - has been traversing Europe to try and sell a switch to Spurs to a handful of different strikers.

Mendes has a good relationship with Spurs chiefs Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici and is looking to line a signing up in case Kane does leave. Talks have been held with Benfica’s Darwin Nunez and Roma’s Tammy Abraham, the results of which are not clear.

Talk over signings at Old Trafford has been delayed by the search for a new manager. Erik ten Hag has already been interviewed but the Dutchman is being followed by a handful of other clubs at the same time.

Kane's former boss, Mauricio Pochettino, is also being considered as he prepares to leave PSG in the summer, and 90min understands the England captain would jump at the chance of a reunion with Pochettino at United.

With a contract until 2024, this summer could be the final chance for Tottenham to sell Kane for his maximum value. Spurs have previously demanded close to £150m to sell their talisman.
