Tottenham star Harry Kane revealed he is aiming to reach 200 Premier League goals, after scoring in his side's 2-0 over West Ham on Tuesday.

The England skipper raced clear of the Hammers' defence and calmly slotted the ball home eight minutes from time. It was his 137th league goal for Spurs in exactly 200 appearances.

After the game, Kane expressed his delight at getting on the scoresheet for the first time since December and said that he was now focussed on hitting a double century of goals - a feat only Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney have previously accomplished.

"I'm still only 26 so hopefully I can get to that 200 mark sooner rather than later and go from there," Kane told Sky Sports (via BBC Sport).

"Scoring is the best feeling in the world.

"Two hundred games... it goes so quick. The years fly by and you have to make the most of it."

Prior to the contest, Spurs manager José Mourinho caused controversy when he launched an impassioned defence of his record with strikers, after Paul Merson's claimed that Kane would struggle to thrive under the Portuguese's management.

Despite Merson's doubts, Kane was quick to dispel any rumours of his own discontent after the West Ham game.

"I've got no problem with how the manager plays. He's here to win, we're here to win games. Obviously this season, to get into the Champions League and next season to progress and try to win something," he said.

"People, pundits have their opinions. In terms of how I feel, I feel really good. I'm positive, in really good shape and like I say, I can only do what I do and try not to listen to the noise outside."

Kane has the chance to edge closer to the 200 goal mark when Spurs travel to Bramall Lane next Thursday to take on an out of form Sheffield United.
