Graham Potter has hailed Chelsea's signing of Mykhaylo Mudryk as 'exciting' following the Blues' much-needed win over Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

Mudryk had been widely expected to join Arsenal during the January transfer window, with the Gunners in talks since December over a move, but Chelsea swooped in over the weekend to seal a deal worth €100m for the Ukraine starlet.

Speaking to the press following the Blues' win over Palace at Stamford Bridge - a win Mudryk was in attendance for - Potter said: "He is a young player with exciting quality in the final third. He is very fast and direct and I think the crowd will like him."

The win at Stamford Bridge was a much-needed one for Chelsea, with the club recently enduring defeats to Fulham and Manchester City since the turn of the new year - defeat which saw Chelsea drop down to mid-table in the Premier League.

Speaking about the win, Potter added: "Today we are happy for the three points. Overall we played quite well, they had their moments as well but today was about getting the victory - park it as three valuable points against a team that was pushing as well.

"We try to play well and I thought at times we did, you have to understand the context of the situation we are in so it isn't going to be sensational football all the time. The boys have worked hard."
