Gigi Hadid gets Zayn Malik a custom Bradford City birthday cake (and yes, it's as good as that sounds)

"Love looks not with the eyes but with the mind and therefore is... a personalised Bradford City birthday cake." That's how the Shakespeare quote goes, right?

In a story that has given us all hope that 2021 might be a bit more fun than 2020, American model Gigi Hadid gave partner Zayn Malik an incredible personalised Bantams themed birthday cake to celebrate the singer turning 28.

The former One Direction member is a lifelong Bradford fan - and the cake really is something to behold.

Made by Carlo's Bakery, the attention to detail is ridiculous. As shared on Hadid's Insta stories to her 62m followers (definitely the League Two side's biggest ever crowd) the cake comes complete with the shirt from the 2014/15 season - the year the Bantams reached the FA Cup quarter finals with a famous 4-2 comeback victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

It's an unbelievable effort from Hadid, whose only other public venture into the world of football appears to be an appearance at a PSG game in 2015.

There's even a Bradford ticket with a time and date on, reading: "Happy Birthday Z! Love G."

However, the small details did have some real fans questioning the authenticity - a 3pm kickoff on a Tuesday, Gigi?!

Can put it down to the crazy Covid schedule, I suppose.

Bradford got in on the act too, taking to Twitter to write: "A belated happy birthday to @zaynmalik...' We hope your day was as special as your cake!"

Hopefully Malik's love for the Bantams has worn off on Hadid, and with the model turning 26 in April, we reckon there's nothing she'd love more than a Billy Clarke shirt and a trip to Valley Parade. Make it happen, Zayn.

Malik is not the only former One Direction member with a footballing passion, with fellow ex bandmate Louis Tomlinson famously signing for his boyhood club Doncaster Rovers back in 2013.

Tomlinson appeared for the reserves and featured in a couple of charity matches. He played for Celtic in a charity match for Stiliyan Petrov, where he was injured by Gabby Agbonlahor, resulting in the former Villa man being abused by One Direction fans on Twitter.

We eagerly await Harry Styles' connection to another northern Football League club in the coming months.
