Getafe outline intentions for permanent Mason Greenwood signing

Getafe president Angel Corres says the club will consider buying Mason Greenwood from Manchester United on a permanent basis.
Greenwood moved to Spain on transfer deadline day on an initial season-long loan deal - after United performed a U-turn on reintegrating him into the first team squad following dropped allegations of attempted rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour - and has contributed seven goal contributions in 13 appearances to date.
The 22-year-old's United contract expires in 2025, with the option to extend by a year, but the club were exploring a free transfer away before his temporary switch to Getafe.
Getafe president Corres has now revealed that the club "believe" in Greenwood, and are exploring ways to make his stay at the club permanent.
“We have not talked about price. We have talked about looking at the situation and seeing what they propose because there has also been a change of shareholding there at Manchester [United]," he told reporters, per The Athletic.
“But we are still happy with the meetings and with the videoconferences we have with them. It is still too early to consider either continuing for one more season or that they will propose a price and we will commit the whole [of the contract] because we have a percentage and to buy the rest.
“I believe a lot [in Greenwood]. From here, we continue to work periodically, we continue to meet with Manchester [United] to see if they are happy. The truth is that they are happy with the treatment, not only from the fans of Getafe, but also from the whole Spain. Now we have to keep on defending him.
“He didn’t play for 16 months and I think that in January, February he will be able to get the rhythm. He will give us satisfaction.”
90min understands that Greenwood is enjoying life in Spain and is happy with how things are going, with his performances also attracting interest from elsewhere. Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have all watched Greenwood in action at various points, while Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are also keeping an eye on developments.
A return to United can't be fully ruled out, though no final decision will be made on whether Greenwood stays or leaves until Sir Jim Ratcliffe's investment has been formalised and the club's new footballing department appointed.
