Germany launch new 'common' home jersey for men's & women's teams
Germany have launched a new ‘common’ home kit that will be worn by both the men’s and women’s teams for forthcoming World Cups in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
In conjunction with adidas, Germany had been one of the first to create bespoke jerseys specifically for its women’s team separate from the men. That has increasingly become the norm in recent years, but the DFB has now gone the other way and the latest home shirt will be a united kit for all.

“It's a cool and strong sign," midfielder Lina Magull said. “This jersey symbolises that we all stand for football, live the same values together and have one goal.
“We want to be successful and role models for the many girls and boys who love this sport as much as we do. We look forward to that we will wear this common jersey at both the 2022 Men's World Cup and the 2023 Women's World Cup.”
As for the design itself, a broad black stripe down the centre of the jersey marks a significant change from typical German kits, but is a nod to the very national team shirt used in 1908. Black shorts and white socks complete the overall look.
In addition to the joint home kit release, a new red and black away shirt has been unveiled for the German men’s team. The women’s team will continue to use their existing green change strip seen at Euro 2022 earlier in the summer.
Both German teams have qualified for their respective World Cup. The men have been drawn into a group with Spain, Costa Rica and Japan for their tournament that gets underway in Qatar in November, while the women will find out their group stage opponents for Australia/New Zealand next summer when the draw is made in October.
