Gavin Bazunu has won the Castrol Save of the Month award for November & December after producing a fantastic save in Southampton's recent Anfield clash with Liverpool.

The Irish goalkeeper became one of the youngest first choice goalkeeper in Premier League history this season following his summer move to Southampton - making 18 league starts thus far at the age of 20. As well as being a regular at club level, Bazunu is a regular at international level too, earning himself 13 caps at senior level under Stephen Kenny.

The highlight of Bazunu's maiden Premier League campaign thus far came at Anfield during the final weekend of domestic football prior to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Although Southampton would lose the game 3-1, Bazunu did himself justice in the match by making a sublime stop to deny Mohamed Salah what looked a certain goal.

Said save was made in the first half, with the Irish international tracking a low drilled cross from Darwin Nunez from the left flank before diving to his left to deflect Salah's first time effort on goal clear of danger.

Other nominees for the November/December Save of the Month award inclueded fellow Republic of Ireland international Mark Travers, as well as Alisson Becker, David de Gea, Jose Sa, and Lukasz Fabianski.

Bazunu follows in the footsteps of, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Nick Pope and Jordan Pickford, who won Castrol's Save of the Month award in August, September and October respectively.
