Arsenal midfielder Frida Maanum has signed a new contract with the club at the end of a stellar season in which she was the Gunners' top WSL scorer.

Following on from a rocky first season for Arsenal plagued with injury, the Norweigan stepped up to the plate to earni herself a regular place in Jonas Eidevall's starting XI.

Maanum lessened the blow of losing Vivianne Miedema to long-term injury in December, having already been preferred to the record-breaking Dutch star - notably in the 5-1 Champions League group stage thrashing of Lyon in October. By May, she was nominated for PFA Vertu Motors WSL fans' player of the year and was named 90min's Arsenal Player of the season.

"It feels great – I love Arsenal, and I'm looking forward to continuing my time here," Maanum said upon pledging her future to the club with the fresh deal.

"This is a place where I can develop and learn from the players around me and take steps both on and off the pitch. We've had some really special moments this season, and the connection with our supporters has been fantastic, so I can't wait to see what we can achieve together."

Maanum joined Arsenal in July 2021 from Linkoping in Sweden and has since made 78 appearances for the club to date, netting 20 goals - 16 of those were scored this past season alone.

Head Coach Jonas Eidevall added: "Frida has been one of the outstanding performers in world football this season, and we’re delighted that she has agreed a new deal with us," commenting on the young star's importance to the side all season-long.

"Since joining us two seasons ago, Frida has developed into a wonderful player and has contributed an impressive number of goals and assists this year. I believe there is a very high ceiling for what Frida can achieve in the game, and I’m so pleased she will continue to wear Arsenal colours moving forward."
