Group F will get off to a huge start on Tuesday with a meeting between two heavyweights of global football, France and Germany.

Reigning world champions France are looking to add European silverware to their trophy cabinet and will hope to avenge their defeat to Portugal in the Euro 2016 final.

The first hurdle for them to overcome is Germany, who have their own demons to banish. Joachim Low's side were humiliated at the World Cup three years ago and are looking to give their boss the perfect send-off this summer.

Here's everything you need to know about the game.

France team news

Karim Benzema's emotional return to the France set-up may well be delayed after the Real Madrid striker picked up a knock in the recent friendly against Bulgaria, although there is some optimism that Benzema will be able to shake it off in time.

Should Benzema not recover, the striker duties could be shared by Olivier Giroud and Kylian Mbappe, whose relationship has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons this week.

Allegations of Giroud's frustrations towards a lack of passes from the PSG star have littered the build-up to this game, and we are yet to see how that could play out on the pitch.

Germany team news

Germany will definitely be without midfielder Leon Goretzka, who remains sidelined with the muscle injury that ended his Bundesliga season two games early.

There are also doubts over RB Leipzig defender Lukas Klostermann, who did not feature at all in the 7-1 win over Latvia because of a knee injury.

Our 21 - One to Watch

With Joshua Kimmich likely to move to the right to replace Klostermann, there could be minutes in central midfield for Bayern Munich starlet Jamal Musiala. Few teenagers in world football are thought of as highly as Musiala, who could send the hype into overdrive with some big showings this summer.

France vs Germany predicted lineups

We're still in the opening round of fixtures and there's a good chance we could see the game of the tournament right here.

Germany may not be the all-dominant powerhouse they used to be, but they're still one of the game's premier international sides, and they're coming up against arguably the best side in world football. This should be a barnstormer.

Both sides could win this one, but as favourites for the entire tournament, it's impossible to look past France.

Prediction: France 2-1 Germany
